Hi my name is Debbie and I am a Support Co—ordinator here at M&A Support Services. I am based on the Sunshine Coast in the heart of Mooloolaba.
I am a mother of 3 wonderful children, aged 16 and 11yr old twins and we have 3 mini daschunds, Coco, Frank & Piper. My wonderful hubby Laurie passed away from Stage 4 bowel Cancer in 2017 so I have a very busy household raising my kids and daschunds! We all miss him greatly.
Each of my children are heavily involved in sport and I enjoy being active so we are always in the car to Ruby, Netball, Pilates, Yoga, Paddle Boarding and my daily runs along the beautiful Mooloolaba Beach. So I guess you’d say we are a sport family!
We enjoy travelling, going to the beach, any water sports and sit down every Thursday night with our extended family for ‘family dinner night’ It’s a sacred weekly event!
When I am not running the kids around, I work at M&A Support Services and the Endeavour Foundation (at their Leisure & Learning Centre) assisting clients with a broad range of disabilities. This is a new yet completely rewarding sector to work in. I don’t call it work though, as each day when I see my clients it makes me feel like I am truly supporting people to live their best lives and reaching their potential. I see it as a gift in working within this industry. And I love being greeted by their smiles (and occasional) warm hugs as I arrive to the centre.
I’ve enjoyed a vast & exciting career both in the Corporate and NFP sectors, in Melbourne, Queensland as well as in New Zealand. My background has been in Corporate Fundraising, Marketing and Event Management and managing stakeholder relationships. I have thoroughly enjoyed each role and meeting a diverse group of people over the past 36 years and I know I will continue to extend my networks within the disability Industry.
I have now decided on a slightly new career path (after completing my cert III in Disability) which provides flexibility so I can juggle our world and my career and was excited about being invited to join M&A. I look forward to working with my clients to live the life they choose and building their support model.
